Head Of Directorate: Advocate Mathias Kashindi
Advocate Mathias Kashindi currently serves as the Head of the Directorate of Law Reform under the Ministry of Justice.
In 2011, Mathias was admitted as a legal practitioner of the High Court of Namibia after which he served as the Chief Legal Officer at the National Assembly before moving to the Office of the Government Attorney in Windhoek.
Promoted to Deputy Government Attorney in 2015, he was appointed as Head of the Directorate of Law Reform in August 2022, where he strives to see his directorate function optimally by addressing the deficit in human capital.
Mathias' goal is to support the government's legislative and policy agenda through his directorate's mandate, hoping to leave a lasting impact.
When he's not working, he enjoys spending quality time with his family.
MANDATE OF THE DIRECTORATE
The Law Reform and Development Commission Act (1991) establishes the LRDC. The core function of the directorate is to render support to the LRDC by conducting research in connection with and to examine all branches of the Namibian Law to enable the LRDC to make recommendations for reform and development of the said law.
